French striker Karim Benzema has said that he is delighted to be working with French legend Zinedine Zidane, who has joined the club as an assistant coach to manager Carlo Ancelotti. The former Chelsea, AC Milan, and PSG manager was appointed as the replacement for José Mourinho. He brought in most of his staff from PSG, but one surprise addition has been former Real Madrid legend Zidane, who has joined the club as part of the coaching staff. He is expected to become a manager in the future, but for now, he will be a part of the coaching team.
Benzema has said that Zidane as someone who he regards as an idol, and he is delighted more than anyone else to be working alongside him. In his playing days, Zidane was regarded as the best midfielder in the last two decades. He represented the likes of Juventus and Real Madrid, while he was also the best player for the French national team bar none. He managed to win several major trophies including the Champions league and la Liga titles in his club career, while he also lifted the World Cup and European championships with the French national team.
Benzema is now entering into his fifth year at the club and hopes to win the FIFA Ballon d’Or award one day.
“He’s been my role model since I was a child. He’s a great player. It’s good for the team to have someone like him on the bench. He’s friendly with the players and has a lot of experience. It’s on my mind. Everyday I work to win it. It’s the best club. I came to work and I’m really pleased to be here. The best thing is that I dreamed of it since I was little. Now I’m a footballer and I’m living my dream,” said Benzema.
